Benedikt Kirchner studied biology at the Technical University Munich and obtained his PhD on the topic of functional characterization of miRNAs in biofluids at the institute of Animal Physiology and Immunology. Focusing early on the possibilities afforded by Next Generation Sequencing and the wealth of information contained in multi omics datasets, he has published multiple bioinformatic tools for reliable detection of miRNA variants, standardisation and normalisation of miRNA datasets and a comprehensive analysis pipeline for small RNAs in the last decade.
